US Army Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Schick invented, patented, and sold the first electric shaver. The first Schick electric shaver was patented on November 6, 1928.
They say necessity is the mother of all invention, and in the case of the electric shaver it is very much true. Needing a shaver which could be used without water, Col. Schick was motivated to come up with a solution to his dilemma. In doing so, he changed forever the way men would shave. Without his inventiveness, men could not shave in the car on the way to work. *WINK*
