The Hobbit Movie: Men's Facial Hair Bonanza!

What am I looking forward to most about The Hobbit? Men's Facial Hair Bonanza, baby!

At a press conference about the movie, multiple male cast members had already begun growing their own lovely facial hair. The lineup (albeit limited) on display of hairy male faces was absolute heaven. All bias aside, every one of them looked perfectly delicious with their facial hair growth.

As for the movie itself, stills and trailers have shown a fabulous array of facial hair, sure to thrill and delight the most discerning men's facial hair lover.

Ahh, what I wouldn't have given to have been on set, if only for a few moments, surrounded by all of that luscious facial hair! Ya know I would've resorted to bribery with my delicious (and quite addictive) homemade dark chocolate brownies in exchange for some face rubbins. mmmmmmmm. It would have been a win-win for all involved.  :-)

Unfortunately, the first installment of The Hobbit is almost a year away, with the second installment to follow an entire year after that. Talk about prolonged foreplay. Sheesh.

Sadly, I am sure the bearded cast members, now home again, have shaven off all their lovely facial hair. *pouty lips* Pity.

Some of the cast members, such as the UK's own Richard Armitage, seem to routinely sport some type of facial hair in real life and in various roles, so there is that consolation prize for those of us who just can't get enough.

You can find more about The Hobbit at the following links:

*CORRECTION: The cast members went home only for a Christmas break and the filming has once again resumed. It is scheduled to continue on through July 2012, so facial hair lovers rejoice! We have many more months ahead of that luscious facial hair to dream about!

Do you know of a movie that features a lot of men's facial hair? Share your recommendations and reviews in the comments section.

World Beard and Moustache Championships; Beard Team USA Group Trip to Norway

The 2011 World Beard and Moustache Championships will be held in Trondhjem (also known as Trondheim), Norway. The World Beard Championships website has organized a group and deals to travel there in order to participate or just enjoy the festivities, with Beard Team USA. The full trip runs from May 8 to May 19 in order to be at the World Beard Championships event on May 15, and also to enjoy other sites and activities around the time of the event.

Interested parties can join in on the fun with the Beard Team USA group, whether traveling with them or meeting up with them for the various activities. More information about this can be found on the World Beard Championships website, in the post about the trip.

Please note that the head of the site told me that more people can come along with his group, however, the cabins are now full on the boat from Bergen to Trondhjem, so other arrangements will need to be made for that part of the trip such as sleeping on deck or taking the train.

He also sent me the itinerary for the trip, which includes departures from both Seattle and New York, with Beard Team Canada meeting up with the group after flying in from Toronto; a short stay in Iceland and walking tour (and time for other activities); travel to Norway and walking tour (with time for other activities); cruise or other travel to Trondhjem; The Norwegian Moustache Club welcome to group (and friends); registration for Championships; The 2011 World Beard and Moustache Championships; trips around Trondhjem; parade and celebrations for Norway’s national holiday (similar to USA Independence Day); travel home.

Please note that to travel with his group on the trip, payment in full must be made by April 1, 2011. All the information needed for that is in his post, plus there is a contact link on his site if you have additional questions. Otherwise, you can make your own arrangements and meet up with them as you wish along the way. Registrants will be given an itinerary for the trip and some very helpful advice regarding money, what to take, what to do in preparation for the trip, etc.

Big thanks to Phil for such a quick and helpful response to my inquiry. Be sure to stop by the World Beard Championships website for lots of great photos and information about this fun annual event and other great stuff. GO BEARD TEAM USA! *WOOT*

Beardyman: Music and Facial Hair Collide, Beautifully

Today I discovered a place in our universe where music and facial hair collide in a most beautiful way. Earlier, I stumbled upon an article about an album release by Beardyman. Intrigued, I checked out the official Beardyman website where I immediately listened to Luv Ya (all over your face). It's a funny video attached to a really lovely song. I've included the video here, for your enjoyment.

I admit, my heart stopped for just a second when I saw the shaving cream and razor come out in the video!

To find out more about Beardyman, check out the official website or the YouTube channel.

With Facial Hair or Clean-Shaven - Which Celebrity Look is Better?

I believe that most men look better with some type of facial hair. That being said, it must also be the right style for their face and it must be kept well-groomed.

This photo essay from FoxNews features photos of various celebrities with and without facial hair. I think most look better with facial hair - what do YOU think?

BONUS:

Hugh Jackman was named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. The cover photo shows him sporting scruff. While he is attractive with or without facial hair, I think he looks better with facial hair. Perhaps it is the facial hair that helped earn him the title, eh?

Men's Facial Hair Interactive Crossword Puzzle

I found an interactive crossword puzzle online and discovered that anyone can create and host them free. I decided to try it out here. Trouble is, I can't seem to get it loaded here, so I have to give you a link, instead. I hope it works there. Please let me know either way. For some reason the instructions are not appearing at the link. Here they are:

Click on the blank spaces to get the clue for that word.
Click on solve to have the answer filled in - click on check puzzle to have your answers checked.
If you have entered an incorrect answer, delete the incorrect answer in the popup box, and then simply enter the correct answer, or enter the appropriate number of 'spaces'. This will blank out the answer in the puzzle.

Men's Facial Hair Interactive Crossword

I was hoping this would be a fun new feature for this blog, but unless I can find a way to make it display correctly here, it won't be.

Sting's Wife Proudly Proclaims Benefit of His Beard

Concert de Image via WikipediaOne of my favorite musical artists, Sting, has been sporting a beard as of late. Though critics thought he should shave it before his final concert appearance, his wife and he chimed in about their thoughts in this interview:

Interview

The article did not use a photo of him sporting said beard, but I found one elsewhere:

Sting's Beard - Photo

In the photo, the beard looks a little ragged, but other than that, I thought it looked good on him.

For many women, what his wife said is very true, gentlemen.

An Ode to a Fallen Beard and The Art of Manliness

I found a new great blog, "The Art of Manliness". It has something called a 'Manival' which is informative and entertaining. In a post I read today, there was a link to "Farewell, Whiskers of Glory".

The ode to the 'fallen beard' is very well-written and amusing. I hope you will go check it out.

What things do you think show 'manliness' in a man?

Scientific Fact: Men with Facial Hair are Best

Photo © Chance Agrella
An interesting study was done that has results that support what I have claimed for a long time. In an article titled “Women Prefer Men with Stubble for Love, Sex, and Marriage” by Roger Dobson, some interesting details about the study are revealed.

Faces of men with various stages of facial hair growth were shown to women who were then asked to rate them in terms of their perceived masculinity, potential as a long term partner, and social maturity, among other things.

The men who got the highest ratings were those who had light stubble. Clean-shaven men got the lowest ratings. The study was conducted with Brits, and the researchers plan to expand the study to include other countries as well.

I wonder how I can participate? Bearded men will definitely get higher marks with me than stubbly men, which leaves me wondering if in America I would be the exception or the rule?

So, as I have always said, men with facial hair are ultra sexy and desirable – and this study from England just proved it!

Get a FREE Quattro Titanium Trimmer from SCHICK

I have fabulous news, my darlings!

Yesterday I was contacted by a Schick representative who had an offer for me and my readers.

Get a FREE Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer in the mail by visiting www.trimflixx.com and making your own "video clip". Its really more like a game you play where you click on a few options and watch the results as a "video clip". It only takes a minute or so to do. Once you are done, click on 'SAVE' and look for the checkbox that says "Throw in a free razor". Be sure to click the checkbox if you want your free Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer.

If you play, be sure to post here that you did, along with your reaction to the game and the offer. Once you get the trimmer, be sure to let us know what you think. I, and others here would love to read your feedback. I will be getting a trimmer shortly, and I will also be posting a review about it.

No, I won't be reviewing how it works on my beard (*laugh*) - I have a teenaged shaver in my home who will be using it on his beard.

Here is how the Schick Rep described the Quattro Titanium Trimmer:
"[It] is unlike any other razor on the market. It's a pretty slick gadget, and as someone with complicated facial hair and a love of gadgetry - it is much appreciated (not to mention super-useful). It has a four blade razor and an edging blade on one end, and a trimmer on the other. It's kind of brilliant."

Now, go get busy making funny video clips and ordering your free trimmers!
